Abigail 3 Weeks Old

Abigail turned 3 weeks old today, it is amazing how quickly time is flying by! It looks like she is going to end up being a blanket baby like her big sister, because she does not sleep well unless she is nice and warm. She has been sleeping well for the most part, but last night she was pretty restless, which meant very little shuteye for Mommy and Daddy. We wouldn't change it though, we are blessed!

Emma Update at 22 months

Look at my big girl!! This is Emma this morning getting ready for school. She is doing great at school. They are going over numbers, letters, colors, and she is coloring tons of papers that we are mailing to different relatives each month. Emma is very active, loves to play outside, wrestles with her dog Reggie, and still loves Mickey Mouse Club House. We believe the reason why Emma has been eager to wear her bows over the last couple of months is due to Mini Mouse!!

Emma is a very good big sister. She helps by alerting us to Abigail's needs, bringing us items such as blankets and even helps with gathering and putting away items around the house. Emma also likes holding Abigail, patting her, and checking on her first thing when she gets up in the morning and when she comes home from school.

Emma still enjoys being a helper around the house with sweeping floors, trying to dust, bringing laundry to and from the washer/dryer. Emma will also try and walk Reggie and to our ever lasting battle feed Reggie from her plate!

Emma will go for her 2 year check up in July... time is going by so quickly but I love ever second of every day that I get to be with my family. God had blessed me with wonderful daughters and a fantastic loving husband.

Daddy's Girls

We always talked about how he would manage to handle both girls, holding them, tending to their needs, and well as you can see by his smile he is blissfully happy to be holding both and doing a great job at it!!

Abigail's 2 Week Checkup

Height: 22 1/4 inches long, she is off the charts with her growth in this area.
Weight: 9lbs 14 oz, this puts her in the 95th percentile for this category.
Temp: 97.8 degrees
Head Circumference: 37 1/4 cm, this puts her in the 90th percentile for this category.

Abigail had her PKU test done today, thus the pink bandage on her left foot. It was not something that I can really talk about because I do not take it well seeing my child in pain. So lets just say Ray held her, but I was brave and stood next to her helping to sooth and calm after the ordeal was over with. We will get the results back from this test in about three weeks.

All of the doctors and nurses love Abigail! She is a great baby and they complement us on her every time we visit. They are all very happy with her progress in weight, growth, etc... and our next official visit for her will be when she is two months old.

Abigail 2 Weeks Old

Abigail is continuing to grow and discover things each day. She is keeping her eyes open a lot more now and staying awake for longer times. She has also decided that when her diaper is not on, it is game on, as a few incidents with Ray have shown. So, for now we will make sure to have the new diaper at the ready when changing her! She has been sleeping better over the past week and is starting to get comfortable sleeping in her bassinet. Hopefully this trend continues so we can catch up on a little shut eye ourselves :)

New Pool

Emma used to have a princess pool, but somehow it sprung a leak and could not contain its air. When her Poppa found out that his Princess did not have a pool he made sure that she got a bigger and better one to share with her sister Abigail. Ray set it up yesterday and she could not wait to jump in!! We look forward to many days of fun in the sun making wonderful memories.

Growth Charts

One of the ways we will create memories and keep track of our girls' growth is with these cute little growth charts that I created with my findings from Hobby Lobby! I know that I will not be able to stay in this house for the rest of my life, so instead of using a door or trim I decided to use these cute little things that can go wherever we go in the future.

Big Sister, Big Protector

Emma heard Abigail crying and ran into the room straight to her to see what was wrong.

As she came running to her little sister's rescue she was calling for her Dada to come and see what was wrong with Abigail.

Once Dada showed up Emma indicated to him that he needed to pick her sister up. So Ray held her and calmed her down for a couple of minutes before Emma informed us that she wanted to hold Abigail for the first time.

So on 5/15/11 Emma held her little sister Abigail for the first time. She got really upset when she thought we were going to take Abigail from her.

Emma has done extremely well adjusting to becoming a big sister. She hands us stuff for Abby, gets our attention when Abby makes noises, and likes to see her sister first thing in the morning, and tells her sister good night before going to bed.

We could not be happier with how things are going and continue to wish, pray, and hope things continue to get better as the days go by. What we really would love is an extra nap each day!

Visiting with Emma and Abby

Tutu Cute

I made these hair bows for the girls matching tutus. They were really easy to make and will look super cute in their pictures this Friday!

This is the maroon tutu that I made with my Aunt Robin for Abigail's new born pictures this Friday. With both her Momma and Dada being Aggies everyone knows she will have her new born pictures taken while wearing Aggie gear... WHOOP

These are the matching tutu's that my Aunt Robing and I made for the girls. We have also had custom designed shirts made for the girls to wear with them. We look forward to posting these pictures soon.

Abigail is 1 Week Old 5/12/11

Abigail Grace Pheris is 1 week old today! She went to her first appointment with her pediatrician on Monday 5/9/11 and had a wonderful report. Abby weighed 8lbs 4 oz at birth and when we were discharged she weighed 7lbs 11oz, she weighed the same on Monday. We had a weight check yesterday with her pediatrician and her weight went up to 7lbs 130z. She continues to be an easy baby, sleeps for up to 4 hours, eats really well, and is a blessing to her family.

*We did get a measurement correction on her length at the Monday's appointment, unlike what they measured her at birth coming in at 20 inches, Abigail is in fact 21 1/2 inches long!!

Emma Goes to the Park

To help Emma celebrate becoming a Big Sister, we did some really special things for her. She received a gift from Abigail the day we brought her home and got to go out to eat the day she was born. Emma also went to the park, and then her Nana and Poppa took her to Dairy Queen for a special treat. Emma has been adjusting really well and is becoming a wonderful Big Sister!

Celebrating Big Sister Style

Emma waiting in our labor and delivery room for us to go back to surgery. She had to have her dinner a little bit early and on the go since our delivery was not scheduled.

Emma super excited to see her Little Sister Abigail for the 1st time. She was super excited and kept asking to be picked up so she could get to look at her.

Emma seeing her sister for the first time. I wish I could have been there in person, but these pictures help me to be a part of the moment.

Emma celebrating her new status as Big Sister by running around playing with a balloon.

Finally us at home and Emma getting some cuddle time with Abigail and Momma.

Bonding Time

Ray and I really felt blessed to have such a positive experience while at the Med. We were able to get quality bonding time with Abigail every day. We had really wonderful nurses for both Abigail and myself. People were really helpful and upbeat while coming in to care for us; they really showed how much they enjoyed taking care of us. Ray was Super Husband and Super Dad doing everything and anything to make sure Abigail and I were comfortable and well taken care of.

Abigail's 1st Bath 5/8/11

Ray giving Abigail her 1st bath at our house. Ray also gave Emma her 1st bath at home as well. A little tradition is a good thing!
