Getting Ready for Halloween

These are the outfits that we picked up for Emma while we were in Vegas for our anniversary this August. The two on the ends glow in the dark. Now we only need two more outfits and her Halloween costume and we will be ready to celebrate one of my favorite holidays!

This is the outfit Ray picked out for Emma while we were looking for something to buy her before we came across the Halloween outfits. As usually he goes for the pink for his princess.

A Teacher's Prayer

A Teacher's Prayer by James Metcalf

James J. Metcalf

I want to teach my students how--
To live this life on earth,
To face its struggles and its strife
And to improve their worth.

Not just the lesson in a book,
Or how the rivers flow,
But to choose the proper path,
Wherever they may go.

To understand eternal truth,
And know right from wrong,
And gather all the beauty of
A flower and a song,

For if I help the world to grow
In wisdom and grace,
Then I feel that I have won
And I have filled my place.

And so I ask your guidance, God
That I may do my part,
For character and confidence
And happiness of heart.

Dual Language Day Care

Emma getting ready to start her new day care. Since her seizure last year I wanted her to be closer to me and have a more stimulated environment with kids her age. She started this new establishment on August 2nd and has done wonderfully. Emma has been really happy, active, and mobile since attending this new day care. We get a report every day, they have lesson plans, and she will be learning Spanish as a second language. There are so many advantages that she has gained by attending this day care that we look forward to all the new discoveries, growth, and programs to attend. We have our first parent meeting this Wednesday and are excited to attend.

Family Dinners

We try to eat all of our meals in the dinning room as a family and to say Grace before every meal. Sometimes we try and make them extra special, then others we get so caught up we have to slow down and remember to give thanks. But I believe the effort we put in place to make time for us as a family and to do these little things are so important to raising our daughter with the right values, beliefs, and family bonding.

As a part of these efforts for this upcoming Holiday Season, Ray and I will be putting our focus on quality family time. We want Emma to have the memories that we have as a child of playing games, telling stories, learning to cook, and creating those memories that she can look back on when she is older. We did not have computers, cell phones, or the many other gadgets that many people toy around with today when we were growing up. So this Holiday Season we will be limiting our use of those things to put our focus on creating those family memories that Emma can look back on and tell her kids about one day.

Summer Naps

What I will miss about summer are the naps I got to take with my daughter. Ray would get her from her crib, we would sleep in a bit together before getting up to start our day. Then I could always count on two naps for us : ) one at 10 and the other at 3. I am very blessed that I got to stay home with my daughter this summer and enjoy her and watch her grow. I can't wait for more opportunities like these.

Princess in Training

Pool Time

This is Emma enjoying her Princess swimming pool that we found for her. This pool number 3 for our water baby.

Emma truly loves the water and if she could have her way she would spend all day playing in the pool, bath, or even with Reggie's water bowl.

She enjoyed the Princess wands that we bought her to play with in this pool. They would float and sink letting her practice finding them, catching them, then tossing them back in.

At one time she did try to entice Reggie to join her, but had to settle for me to play with her.

We have had some real family fun with her and her pools. We plan to continue her swimming lessons next summer as well as continue with our pool fun here at home for the next month or more.

New Hairdo

Emma likes to take her food and smear it in her hair when she is done eating.

She also likes to toss it in Reggie's fur if she gets bored eating.

But we are happy to report that she is eating better, not that picky, and loves to share!

Best Friends Forever

This is Emma with her BFF Grace at our house on 7/17/10. We had many play dates this summer with the girls at both of our homes.

Emma is about three weeks older than Grace, but Grace is a little firecracker and is a great inspiration to our Emma.

The first person that Emma walked to was Grace's Mom. Kim is a great motivator for Emma and when they went to leave this day Emma told them she loved them before telling them bye bye.

A friendship to last a lifetime. Two little girls who are so precious and we are lucky to be a part of their lives.

Happy Wedding Anniversary 9 Year of Love and Happiness

9 Years of Wedded Bliss

Time to Reflect
On our anniversary,
it’s time to reflect on all the joy
our marriage has brought us over the years.
Remember our wedding day?
Our wedding photos show
our affection, our passion,
the bond we feel with one another.
Since that day,
many more pleasures have come to us
because we chose to love each other.
As we reminisce,
let those fond, happy memories
strengthen our commitment
to love and care for each other...
forever.
Happy Anniversary!

Happy Anniversary

17 Years Together

Remember?
Remember the first flush of love
that drew us powerfully together?
It still feeds the unassailable bond
that makes our relationship so secure.
Remember all the qualities about each other
we find so endearing?
They are still there,
and new ones create sweet surprises.
Remember thinking that this love
would last forever?
Our love has strengthened and grown
into eternal affection and admiration.
Years from now, we'll look back
at this anniversary
and realize we love each other
more than ever.
Happy Anniversary!
