Happy Birthday Ray

Ray eating his homemade dinner from his loving wife. But his baby girl had to get in some loving with Daddy.

Emma wrote on the driveway for one of her gifts to her Daddy for his birthday!

Her 2nd gift to her Dad was to wear her I Love Daddy t-shirt for this very special occasion.

This is Emma and her Daddy before we all get ready to leave for work and school.

We wish you a very Happy Birthday!

Love You,

Brandie and Emma

Goodbyes

March 15, 2009 in Mississippi and we are all so happy to be here with family. But there is something that we have to do that is so sad.

This is the site of where the house my mother grew up in used to be. For five generations we have come to this same spot over the years to say hi and spend time with the Savell side of the family.

The state of Mississippi is expanding Highway 19 and they purchased this land from my family because the highway will run through this area.

I was hoping to see it one last time to take a picture of Emma and the house where my Mom grew up, but it was already gone. : (

With progress comes change, needed and good, but it is still sad in a way. Now my Mamaw lives in town in a really nice house and is close to really good friends and family.

8 Months Old and Trying To Drive

March 13, 2009 our first road trip with Emma. She is 8 months old in this picture. This is Spring Break and we are headed to Mississippi with a stop in Louisiana first.

We stopped at a restaurant in Amarillo, Texas to eat some dinner and let Emma stretch.

She is sitting in the driver's seat with Ray trying to drive the truck. We also turned her seat around so she could see her Daddy, and that led to less fussy behavior. Her legs are so long that when it was the other direction she would dig her feet into the seat and push herself back into her car seat.

Steps To Take A Nap

Step 1: Have Dad feed you and get a full belly, then sit back and relax with a little basketball!

Step 2: Smile at Mom and let her know you love her before you curl into Dad and get warm.

Step 3: Once you curl into Dad, place fingers in mouth for some extra comfort and fall fast asleep.

Step 4: Spread out and get comfortable because Dad always will make the most comfortable bed.

This is Ray and Emma on March 10th at home relaxing. It is wonderful when Ray gets to stay home and spend some time with us.

Washer Woes

Ray and I have been in our beautiful home for five years now. When we moved in we bought a brand new Maytag washer and dryer. Well, the washer is now having fits so we called our American Home Shield insurance policy holder to see about getting it fixed. They contacted Sears who we bought if from, and they sent a technician out to the house last Thursday the 11th. They needed to order a part to fix the transmission since it was going out. We got back into town on Thursday to be prepared for the guy to show up Friday between 8-12 to fix the washer. Friday morning he called us asking if we have the part for the washer. Come to find out the 1st guy who originally came out to the house went on vacation and never ordered the part we needed. It is now going on 2 weeks that we have been unable to use our washer.

One of the things I looked forward to the most when buying our own home was having a washer and dryer! Can you imagine trying to pack for a trip with very few clean clothes for yourself, much less an 8 month old!

Ray spent half the day on the phone trying to figure out how they could have dropped the ball on something so simple. Now we are going on 3 weeks without a washer and our second trip to Harvey Washbangers to get our clothing done.

Spring Break 2010

We decided to visit family and friends during spring break to give them a chance to meet Emma for the 1st time. So we traveled to Louisiana and Mississippi with our 8 month old daughter.

For the 1st time on making the trip to Mississippi we decided to break it up and stop in Louisiana on the way there and stop on the way back to Texas.

So we left our home on Saturday, 13th and headed out to Louisiana. We drove to Kilgore and stopped for dinner and it gave us all a little break before we continued into Louisiana. Once we reached Louisiana we stayed in Shreveport for the night and Ray went to two of the local casinos. He spent more time in traffic getting back to us than he did at the casinos. He took him over 2 hours to drive 10 miles due to a really bad car accident.

Once we got on the road Sunday, 14th we headed to Philadelphia, Mississippi where my mothers side of the family is from. We stayed with my Mamaw Sunday through Wednesday. Wednesday we headed back to Louisiana for a stop in St. Martinville where my best friend Janet lives before going into Lafayette for the night. Thursday we headed back to Texas to sleep in our beds!

We had a wonderful time with all of our family and friends and will post more about our trip soon with lots of pictures.

We hope that all of our friends and family have a wonderful spring break!

Nana to the Rescue

This is how our Saturday started out on the 27th. She was dressed, happy, and playing before we left to go to brunch with a friend.

Emma was happy at brunch. She talked, smiled, and played with our friend Laura.

Once we got home I checked her temp and it was up. So we changed and tried to have a little lunch and that is when all the sickness kicked in.

Emma has never been this sick before. I could not get her to keep anything down and all she wanted was to be held. So I made and call to Nana and pulled the emergency card. Ray had been out of town Tuesday - Friday and had to work 12 hours both Saturday and Sunday.

So Nana came in a flash! She did a 2 1/2 hour trip in 1 hr and 45 minutes. Nana held and comforted Emma through the day so I could get some things done. Ray came home from work Saturday night and it really got bad. My poor baby could not keep anything down again and it went all over me, her carpet, and the guest bathroom. Nana stayed the night and tended to Emma so I could regain some energy. She is all better now and I hope I do not have to repeat this experience any time soon.
