Shanna's High School Graduation

Our niece Shanna graduated from high school, and we are SO proud of her!  They had their graduation ceremony in a nice, old theater  in Beaumont.  There were a lot of speakers and a lot of laughs as they celebrated their last time together as high school classmates.  We then went to her house for a celebratory dinner.  Congrats Shanna!

Emma's Pre-K Graduation

We officially have a kindergartener!  Emma had her Pre-k graduation last night.  It was very well done, and Emma led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance before the ceremony began.  Some of the younger kids (including Abby) sang the ABC song amongst other songs, and Emma and her group sang a graduation song.  It was then time for the diploma ceremony, and Emma walked across the stage.  It is hard to believe our baby will begin kindergarten in the fall, but as you can see from the pictures, she is now our big girl and ready for the challenge!

Dad's 60th Birthday

We celebrated Dad's 60th birthday on Thursday, having dinner at one of his favorite restaurants.  Eric made him a cake and brought it, and the girls had a blast helping their Poppa celebrate.  Dad really enjoyed it, and we all were happy to spend his special day with him!

Emma's Last Basketball Game of the Season

Yesterday marked the last day of Emma's 1st basketball season.  She is VERY proud of her trophy!  We had a small celebration at the house with her Nana and Poppa.  We are all very proud of her, especially considering it was her first time playing and she was playing against older kids a lot of the time.  She showed tremendous improvement since the time she began, and was even commended on her defensive tenacity!

Weekend Fun

This weekend was fun-filled and action packed.  Emma had a basketball game on Saturday, then we went to visit family.  The girls dressed up in their colorful outfits and had a great time seeing relatives they don't get to see too often.  We followed that up on Sunday by going to the Strawberry Festival.  The girls ate chocolate covered strawberries, then went to the carnival and rode rides with us, and on their own.  It was a ton of fun getting to spend quality time together as a family!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all of the moms out there.  We started the day by making a good breakfast and eating as a family.  We then went to Nana's house so the girls could give her a card and plant they picked for her.  Then we were off to the beach!  We first went to Sylvan beach because it was close and we had not been there, but decided we would rather go to Galveston, so we packed up and headed there.

Once in Galveston, we stopped for lunch at Fish Tales, which is a special place for us as that is where we ate the night I proposed to Brandie.  We then headed to Stewart Beach, which was great except for all of the seaweed everywhere.  Emma didn't seem to mind it, as she had a blast jumping through the incoming waves, though she did not like it much when the water went into her mouth!  Abby liked it as well except for the times the seaweed touched her.  They also played in the sand and built sand castles.  We then headed back home, stopping for a snow cone along the way!

For dinner I grilled steaks and corn on the cob and also sauteed some mushrooms.  For dessert we enjoyed a cheesecake I made to go with the banana bread Brandie requested.  She also received a lot of other loot, as seen in the pictures above.  The quilt was made from some of her favorite A&M t-shirts that she can keep as a memento.  She also will be getting a facial and massage at a spa next weekend.  Now it is time to wind down from a fun, but busy, weekend!

Teacher Appreciation

Some images of the items I was given by my students and campus this week for teacher appreciation. The PTA gave us a catered lunch from a local restaurant and the administration and staff gave us a homemade pulled pork lunch. I had a great week at work and now I am enjoying my weekend!

Happy Birthday Abby

Abby had a wonderful birthday today.  She spent some quality time with Momma, Daddy, and Emma before going to school, where she got to have a party with her class!  They enjoyed cupcakes and sand Happy Birthday to Abby.  After school, we picked up the girls and took them to eat an early dinner with Poppa at Johnny Carino's.  Abby enjoyed a salad, bread, pasta, and one of her favorite treats, tiramisu!  We came home and she played with her new toys, especially her Sofia the First desk and Sofia the First Leap Pad.  Finally, it was a bath, brushing of the teeth, and tucked into bed to say her prayers and go to sleep holding her babies.  It is hard to believe it has already been 3 years, and we are the luckiest parents in the world to call this sweet, sweet baby our daughter!

Abigail Grace's 3rd Birthday

We celebrated Abby's birthday with our family today. Abby had a wonderful time with all of her cousins and really has enjoyed the gifts she was given.  Thanks to Nana, Poppa, Uncle Eric, Maw, Aunt Trish, Aunt Dana, Aunt Lulu, Memaw, Keith, Aunt Robin, and all of the cousins for coming to celebrate Abby's party!
